4 Years of Carly Stark

Monday, March 21st, 2011

In July of 2007 I received an email from a 17-year old girl named Carly Stark.  I think I emailed her back less than 24-hours later.

Do you ever feel like you catch a glimpse of your future in a single moment, but all the thoughts and images go through your brain so fast that you cant hold onto any of them long enough to remember?

I like to think that in the moment I met Carly I saw the next four years of images flash through my brain, all 91 of these, but they left just a bit too quickly to grasp.

For reasons beyond my ability to explain I felt like we had to rediscover these elusive shots if for no other reason than to practice capturing inspiration.

Every once in awhile wed rediscover one of the highlights, like a fisherman reeling in the biggest catch of the day the thrill is beyond explanation.  Its this adrenaline rush that compels me to keep shooting.

Its a rush.  Just as big of a rush as sky-diving at least for me.

I give you one of my all time favorite muses, if you follow my work at all then Im sure youve seen her before.  Ms. Car

Haute Workout Wear

Tonight I realized something about myself I use words too much.

I started working on this image of Samantha and I saw something that wasnt there.  I found a blank sheet of paper and a pen I accidentally stole from the bank and started sketching.  All angel wings.  Different styles, until on the third or fourth sketch I tried just wiggly lines.

Then the image spoke to me.  Ive been having several deep conversations with many people this week and in almost every one of them the topic has brushed on the work of unseen angels amongst us.

I sincerely believe there are angels amongst us.  Do you?

Heres to hoping we all have the courage to act on our personal discoveries.

Dedicated to one of my favorite models.  She knows.

After starting this blog post I noticed the similarity to one of Ryan Muirheads masterpieces.  Re-posted here without his permission.  (he can sue me if he wants but Id counter sue him for the $80 filter I bought from him that still hasnt been delivered.  EDIT: Ryan immediately wrote me claiming he brought me the filter, the matter is currently under investigation.
